- Virginia Woolf, A Writer's Diary
Dear Readers,
Iβm writing to you at the end of a strange summer at the tail end of a full moon. Knowing a hurricane was moving our way (it turned out to be a beautiful windy day, great for wave watching!) I spent the last few days outside as much as possible; the cool air is a delight and a relief, flooding my body with good memories of Septembers past.
But the skin on my arms was also raised in pinpricks, an annual fear gently becoming conscious: soon the air will be too cold to linger outside for long without bundling myself in many layers. And a question - how can I best savor this?
Iβm excited to share a new and very special project with you! Iβm launching a new series on here as I begin writing a new book, which Iβve been affectionately calling Bride to Me π

At the end of the day on a new moon in September 2021 I packed a picnic basket and walked down to my favorite beach. I bathed in the ocean, popped a tiny bottle of champagne, and wrote down four vows.
After each vow I wrote 'I do'.
And I meant it.
Two years have passed since my self-commitment ceremony, and while it's never been a secret, I've never written publicly about it until now. I've connected with countless folks since that day about romanticizing solitude: the practical details of how I/you/we care for ourselves on the daily and cultivate joy while confronting and inhabiting loneliness, isolation, and longing.
πStarting on October 1st I will be sending weekly missives to paid subscribers of this newsletter, which will act as a digital galley for what will someday become a physical book. Part how-to, part memoir, I'll be sharing essays, photos, journal entries, poetry, reading lists, and more each week. I'm so excited to start this writing journey and I would be honored if you came along with me.
Free subscribers will continue to receive monthly poetic missives with short essays, photos, and shop updates :)
If you become a paid subscriber before October 1st I'll send you a little thank you treat in the mail π Reply to this email with your mailing address if you do!
Thank you so much for reading and for being here.
